Campaign & Community Assistant

Part time: Approx 24 hours per week, worked flexibly over 4/5 days
Location: Hybrid (1-2 days per week at our office near Woodbridge, Suffolk)
Salary: £20 per hour. Initial 3 month contract with view to develop into a permanent role
Closing date: Midnight, Sunday April 6, 2025

THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly organised and can-do Campaign & Community Assistant to join our small but mighty team. You’ll be working alongside the founding team to provide essential support to us and the wider SFC community, as we work together to build the Smartphone Free Childhood movement across the UK (and beyond).

This role is at the heart of the organisation, serving as a ‘first responder’ to our community across WhatsApp, email and social channels, keeping abreast of developments from the nationwide movement, managing administrative tasks and providing all-round operational support.

The ideal candidate will have proven organisational and communication skills, pride themselves on their attention to detail, as well as being proactive and able to adapt to new digital platforms and any of the varied tasks the campaign may present day-to-day. And vitally, they should have a wholehearted belief in our mission.

We’re only a year old but growing fast, so we need someone who’s excited about working in an early stage ‘startup’ environment. Every day brings something new, so adaptability and proactivity is vital – we’ll support and guide but the ideal candidate will help shape the role and make it their own.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Community support: to act as the first point of contact with our Regional Leaders and our WhatsApp community, ensuring they have the tools and information they need to build the movement in their areas.

• Supporter engagement: Respond to inquiries from supporters, partners, and the public via email.

• Social media engagement: Monitor and respond to messages and comments on our social media platforms in line with our communication guidelines.

• Keeping track and reporting: Monitoring regional networks and keeping the core team informed of news, successes and challenges to inform the next phase of growth.

• General administration: Assist with managing email correspondence, scheduling meetings, maintaining records, file management.

• Database management: Maintain and update databases in Notion and Google Sheets.

Other duties: Provide ad hoc project support as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

About Smartphone Free Childhood
Smartphone Free Childhood is a grassroots movement bringing families together to give kids the chance to learn and grow free from addictive algorithms. Founded in February 2024 after one WhatApp group went viral, our small core team is now working with a growing community of over 200,000 people across the UK. We campaign nationally and provide peer-to-peer support and resources to families, schools and policy makers, focused on the many benefits of delaying smartphone and social media use.
